Shanae Picture Dater SupportHow to install
Shanae Picture Dater comes as a download file. Look for the download button on the order confirmation page. After downloading the file, double-click it to begin the installation.
If you have a version of Windows older than Windows XP and the installation does not work, you may need to download and run one of the following items to update Windows installer:
- Instmsia.exe for Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition
- Instmsiw.exe for Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP
How to date images in a batch
Open Shanae Picture Dater and load the first image in the directory of images you wish to date. Make sure the date, time, filename, etc. appear as you like them by moving the text with the mouse and changing the color, etc. Save the formatting as a template with the File menu. Click the Next arrow button to go to the next image and preview it. If several images look just like you want them, click the double arrow button. It will process all the remaining images.
How to add borders or Watermarks in a batch
Follow the steps in the previous section, but add a border or watermark image by using the Options toolbar button and selecting a border and/or watermark. The border and watermark will be applied to each image when you start the batch process.
Why does it recompress the image?
Shanae Picture Dater never modifies the original image. It saves a new copy with the imprinted date, border, etc. The new copy is compressed using the compression level you choose. This is very useful because you can choose a higher compression level so that the image files are smaller. When printing 4x6 prints, it works very well with no noticeable difference in quality because of the small print size. The originals are unchanged for when you decide later on to print them with no date stamps or at higher quality.
How does adding blank space to one side fix the aspect ratio?
Most digital cameras have an aspect ratio of 4.5"x6", but a print is 4"x6". This means that a quarter of an inch is cropped from the top and bottom to make it fit on the 4"x6" print. There is a way to make it so less or no cropping occurs. Shanae Picture Dater can add a blank area to one side of the image so that the new ratio is exactly 4"x6". Now all of the image is in view without cropping. So there is less of that missing forehead and hair in an album. The new blank area is perfect for putting the date, time, file name, shutter speed, and more as you choose.
What is the current version?
