This is a very special authentic, large, olive wood nativity set. It provides a lovely setting for the nativity scene to unfold in your mind and heart.

This nativity set is handcrafted at a Christian family's small enterprise. Their olive wood workshop is nestled on a small side-lane of old Bethlehem, within shadow's reach of the fifteen hundred-year-old Church of the Nativity (which was so much in the news). KidEnergy, also, is a small family business. My archaeologist brother, who has spent a significant amount of time in the Middle East over the past 10 years and is the purchaser of our olive wood products, has worked hard to bring you the best in quality at a terrific price. Many carved nativity sets we've seen do not have the realistic facial expressions displayed by these figures. Special care was given during the selection process for finer cut human expressions. The natural swirl and contrast of the olive wood grain will draw your mind to the shepherds' fields of biblical Judea. Individually made, no two pieces are just alike.

This 21 piece set includes Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus in a manger. Three wise men in traditional Persian garb bear their gifts, and three shepherds are accompanied by three sheep. One of the shepherds also has a small lamb near his feet (one piece). A cow and a donkey rest contentedly in the Holy Presence. There is a staff for Joseph and for one of the shepherds, whose hands are specifically formed to hold them. The stable, stall fence, large palm tree, and star complete the picture. The scene can be arranged any way you see fit. Baby Jesus may be placed in the manger or picked up and held in a moment of contemplation.

This is a large set. The stable measures about 16" wide at the base and 21.5" wide at the roof. The roof is 13" high, the palm over 3" taller. The standing figures measure 7" in height with the kneeling figures a little shorter. The olive wood stable, palm tree, and Christmas star fit together easily, and disassemble for compact inter-seasonal storage.

While not a toy, kids and grown-ups alike are inspired by this nativity set, truly made by artisans in the village where Jesus was born. As you look at each piece and study it, you may find yourself moving from here to there, from now to then, pondering again the meaning and depth of the Christmas story.
